The advisory will remain valid until 3.30 PM tomorrow (13).
According to the department, the warning has been issued for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and North-Central provinces, along with the districts of Trincomalee District, Galle District and Matara District.
Meteorologists stated that the prevailing low-pressure system near Sri Lanka could trigger heavy showers exceeding 100 mm in certain areas, accompanied by strong winds and intense lightning activity.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage caused by heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers.
