The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Belarus from May 12 to May 15, 2026. The visit is expected to focus on expanding cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
During the visit, Sri Lanka and Belarus will sign an Air Services Agreement between the two governments, aimed at enhancing connectivity and facilitating air transport operations between the two countries.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Higher Education will be signed between the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Education of Belarus. The agreement is expected to promote academic collaboration, student exchanges, and institutional partnerships.
A third agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding on Health Sector Cooperation, will also be concluded between the Ministry of Health and Mass Media of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Health of Belarus. This MoU is intended to strengthen cooperation in healthcare services, medical knowledge sharing, and related areas.
The government said the agreements are part of ongoing efforts to broaden international partnerships and enhance cooperation in aviation, education, and health sectors.
