A Level 2 landslide warning has been issued for the Passara Divisional Secretariat Division in Badulla District. The warning is effective from 4.00 PM yesterday (11) until 4.00 PM today (12).
The NBRO also issued Level 1 “be alert” warnings for several areas in six districts due to possible landslide risks.
The affected areas include Bandarawewa in Badulla District, Walallawita in Kalutara District and Rideegama in Kurunegala District.
In Matale District, warnings were issued for the Divisional Secretariat areas of Rattota, Ambanganga Korale and Naula.
Meanwhile, Wellawaya and Badalkumbura in Monaragala District have also been identified as vulnerable areas.
In addition, the Ratnapura and Kalawana Divisional Secretariat divisions in Ratnapura District have been placed under alert.
Authorities have advised residents in high-risk locations to remain vigilant for warning signs linked to landslides, including cracks in the ground, tilting trees or electricity poles and sudden water seepage. People living in vulnerable areas have been urged to move to safer places if such warning signs are observed.
