Speaking at a public meeting in Hiriyala, Kurunegala, Rajapaksa said the government lacks a proper plan to provide fertilizer to farmers or to purchase paddy at a fair price.

He further alleged that instead of strengthening local production, the government has opted to import essential goods such as rice, eggs and vegetables.

Rajapaksa also referred to a recent incident involving an alleged transfer of Rs. 800 million to an incorrect account by the Ministry of Finance, accusing officials of focusing on fund transfers rather than national development.

He further claimed that the government is working in a systematic manner to weaken religious faith and the Buddha Sasana.
