The association said that the price of a photocopy is expected to increase by between Rs. 2 and Rs. 5 due to rising operational costs.
Association Chairman Indrajith Perera said communication centre owners had avoided increasing prices despite several previous electricity tariff revisions. However, he said that the current increase, coupled with rising prices of paper, toner and other raw materials, has made a price revision unavoidable.
He further expressed regret over the decision, stating that the additional costs would ultimately place a burden on consumers.
Perera also questioned the reasons behind the latest electricity tariff increase, noting that earlier hikes had been attributed to corrupt practices within the Electricity Board.
