Initially, the Board had planned a 24-hour water cut, but this was later reduced to 18 hours and subsequently shortened to 12 hours to minimize inconvenience to the public.

Meanwhile, the Board stated that a special program is in place to distribute water via bowsers if disruptions across the Colombo District intensify. Steps have already been taken to mobilize water bowsers from other districts to Colombo.

Chairman of the Board, Chandana Bandara, said that approximately 20,000 water connections have been affected by the supply interruption.
