The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide early warnings for two Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Ratnapura District due to ongoing heavy rainfall.
According to the NBRO, the warning applies to the Kolonna and Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat areas. Residents in these areas have been advised to remain vigilant under Level 1 (Early Warning) conditions.
The warning is effective from 5:00 PM today (April 4) until 5:00 PM tomorrow (April 5).
Authorities further urge people living in landslide-prone areas, especially near slopes and unstable ground, to exercise caution during periods of continuous rainfall.
The NBRO emphasized the importance of staying alert for early signs of landslides, such as cracks in the ground, tilting trees, or sudden water seepage, and to seek safer locations if necessary.
