The accident occurred near the 3rd Mile Post along the Mahiyangana–Girandurukotte road. According to preliminary investigations, the cab, which was traveling toward Girandurukotte, had attempted to overtake another vehicle when it collided with a tractor coming from the opposite direction.
Seven الأشخاص, including both drivers and several passengers traveling in the rear of the cab, sustained injuries and were admitted to the Mahiyangana Hospital for treatment.
Police said a 57-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman later succumbed to their injuries. The victims have been identified as a married couple residing in the Mahiyangana area.
