Kinley Wangchuk, Director General of Civil Aviation of the Bhutan Civil Aviation Authority, met with Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General and CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), to propose operational plans aimed at boosting scheduled passenger flights and enhancing aviation collaboration.
Capt. Rambukwella welcomed the initiative and urged Bhutan to submit a formal proposal for an Air Services Agreement. Such an agreement would pave the way for closer cooperation in the air transport sector, benefiting both countries’ aviation industries.
The discussion also touched on global aviation challenges, including the decline in air travel caused by conflicts in the Middle East. Both sides expressed confidence in the sector’s recovery and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to rebuild and expand regional air connectivity.
The meeting included key CAASL officials and representatives from the Bhutan Civil Aviation Authority, highlighting a shared commitment to aviation development and cross-border training programs.
