The latest data reveals that India remains the leading source market, contributing 27,613 tourists during this period. The United Kingdom follows with 10,111 arrivals, while Russia accounted for 9,562 visitors. Germany and China also made notable contributions, with 8,258 and 9,100 tourists respectively.
Meanwhile, cumulative figures for the year indicate strong growth in the tourism sector. From January 1 to March 18, Sri Lanka welcomed a total of 666,065 international visitors.
Out of this total, India leads by a wide margin with 127,353 tourists. The United Kingdom recorded 70,439 arrivals, while Russia contributed 59,795 visitors during the same period.
Tourism authorities note that these figures reflect a steady recovery and growing interest in Sri Lanka as a travel destination in 2026.
