Three have been reported dead and several others injured following a head-on collision between two buses operated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) in the Weerawila area, according to police.
The accident occurred earlier today under circumstances that are still being investigated. Authorities stated that both buses were traveling in opposite directions when they collided, resulting in severe damage to the vehicles.
Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene to assist the injured, who were later transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The condition of several passengers is reported to be critical.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision, including whether driver error, mechanical failure, or road conditions contributed to the incident.
