To streamline the distribution process, Mayura Neththi Kumarage, Managing Director of the CPC said that the CPC has placed a total of 1,616 orders, while other market players like Lanka IOC (LIOC) have placed 204 orders, and Sinopec and RM Parks have placed 247 and 248 orders respectively. Furthermore, a new system has been implemented to provide fuel for private buses through SLTB depots to ensure uninterrupted public transport services. Fuel bowsers were dispatched to these depots early this morning to facilitate this process.
In addition to logistics, the CPC is actively resolving technical issues related to the National Fuel Pass (QR) system. Officials are currently addressing problems faced by users regarding vehicle transfers, mobile number updates, and registration failures.
However, a serious warning was issued regarding a rise in cyber-fraud. The CPC has identified several fake websites and social media accounts using the official Ceylon Petroleum Corporation logo to collect personal data from unsuspecting citizens. Fraudsters are reportedly using this stolen information to create fraudulent QR codes, which prevents the legitimate vehicle owners from registering their own fuel passes.
The CPC officially clarified that fuelpass.gov.lk is the only authorized website for fuel pass registration. The public is strongly advised not to enter their National Identity Card (NIC) numbers or vehicle details into any other platform, as the government does not collect data through unofficial third-party websites or social media links.
