Driver representatives said the current system allows only 15 litres of fuel per week for three-wheelers, which is not enough for drivers who depend on their vehicles as their main source of income.
Three-wheeler associations claim that at least 35 litres per week is needed for normal operations and daily hires.
They also warned that if the quota is not revised, drivers are planning to hold a protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat.
Meanwhile, several other transport sectors have also raised concerns over the current fuel allocation.
School transport operators say the 60-litre weekly diesel quota given for buses is not enough to operate school services and manage regular road travel, and have requested authorities to increase the quota to 100 litres per week.
Private bus operators have also warned that if the fuel quota remains unchanged, some bus services may have to be reduced due to the limited supply available.
