CPC Chairman D. A. Rajakaruna said the decision was taken to ensure the continuous operation of private bus services across the country.
According to him, passenger buses will initially receive a weekly fuel quota of 60 litres.
He further stated that the quota will be revised based on the route operated, distance travelled and frequency of service, in order to provide fuel according to operational requirements.
The CPC said the programme is being implemented to support public transport services and prevent disruptions to passenger travel.
