The notice was issued on the order of High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela.
Jayakody has been indicted for allegedly committing corruption by causing a loss of more than Rs. 8.8 million to the State by allowing a contracted private company to make undue financial profits.
The alleged offence is said to have taken place while he was serving as Procurement Manager of Lanka Fertiliser Company Limited.
According to the indictment, Jayakody is accused of releasing funds as an advance payment to the contracted company in violation of procurement regulations. The rules require a company undertaking a development project on the Fertiliser Company’s premises to first provide a bank guarantee.
The advance payment of more than Rs. 8.8 million, which amounted to 20 percent of the total contract value, was allegedly released without obtaining the required bank guarantee.
