The main objective of the visit was to study and gain a deeper understanding of Sri Lanka’s history, the introduction and development of Buddhism, traditional culture, Ayurveda, customary practices, food culture and key economic crops. The delegation expressed interest in learning more about the country’s heritage and sharing their experiences with the people of Japan.
During discussions, attention was also focused on further strengthening tourism cooperation between Sri Lanka and Japan. The delegation noted that the knowledge and insights gained during the visit would help promote Sri Lanka as an attractive travel destination among Japanese tourists.
They also held discussions on promoting Sri Lanka internationally by highlighting cultural and historical sites in destinations such as Colombo, Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Mahiyanganaya and Kandy.
Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
