As of 6:15 a.m. today, 18 inbound flights scheduled to arrive at the Katunayake airport and 25 outbound flights scheduled to depart have been cancelled.
Additionally, two aircraft operated by FitsAir and Air Arabia, which departed yesterday (28) afternoon from Katunayake bound for Middle Eastern destinations, have returned to Bandaranaike International Airport.
Passengers whose final destinations are in the Middle East or who are scheduled to travel via Middle Eastern transit hubs are advised to contact their respective airlines before arriving at the airport. They are also urged to check their email and SMS notifications for updates. Alternatively, passengers can visit the official airport website at www.airport.lk� for the latest flight information.
Meanwhile, foreign nationals who are unable to depart Sri Lanka due to the current situation have been granted a seven-day visa extension by the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration.
However, flights operating to and from Australia, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany continue to operate as scheduled.
