Airlines that were previously reluctant to operate flights to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport due to wildlife-related safety concerns have resumed and expanded services following corrective measures taken by the new government.
Officials said the steps taken to address safety issues led to a notable increase in flight operations in 2025, helping the airport achieve its highest passenger handling figures since its opening.
