Police have arrested two women in connection with the criminal intimidation of two lawyers and an attack on their vehicle following proceedings at the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.
According to police, the complaint states that the two lawyers, who had appeared in a case at the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court on 30 January 2026, were leaving the court premises when a group of individuals blocked the road, surrounded their vehicle, threatened to kill them, and caused damage to the car.
Three police teams, including officers from the Mirihana Police Station, were deployed to investigate the incident. One suspect had been arrested earlier in connection with the case.
Police said the two female suspects, aged 31 and 55 and residents of Puhulwella, were arrested on charges of unlawful obstruction, criminal intimidation, and assault while being part of an unlawful assembly.
The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today.
