The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today (02) ordered that the drug stock worth over Rs. 300 million, recently seized by the Navy and brought to Dikowita Fisheries Harbour, be sent to the Government Analyst for examination and a report be called for.
The 263 kilograms of drugs, seized from eleven fishermen, were produced before the court by the Police Narcotics Bureau under tight security.
According to court records, on January 25, 109.422 kilograms of ice and 112.258 kilograms of heroin were recovered from the multi-day fishing vessel on which the suspects were travelling. The seized drugs were presented in 15 protective bags.
Following the Magistrate’s order, the drugs were sealed and forwarded to the Government Analyst under the supervision of the Court Registrar.
