An online payment facility for clients of the Urban Development Authority (UDA) was officially launched on February 2 at the Peliyagoda Manning Public Market Complex, marking a key milestone in the government’s national programme to digitise public services and strengthen the digital economy.
The launch was held under the patronage of Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake. Through the UDA’s online platform, https://fmis.uda.lk/login, more than 1,400 businesses currently operating at the Manning Market will now be able to make payments seamlessly via the government’s GovPay system.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at ensuring secure, transparent and efficient transactions while reducing delays associated with traditional payment methods. The new facility allows traders to make payments anytime and from anywhere, improving operational efficiency at one of the country’s busiest wholesale and retail hubs.
