The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has warned that it will intensify its trade union action if no effective intervention is made within the next 48 hours to resolve the issues faced by doctors.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the GMOA Central Committee held yesterday (28), where full authority was granted to the Executive Committee to decide on future action. The meeting also resolved to continue the ongoing trade union action without interruption.
Addressing the media, GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Hansamal Weerasuriya said the Minister of Health has been given 48 hours to intervene. He added that the Association had made its position clear and that the Minister should not later claim that the GMOA had not allowed sufficient time or had resorted to sudden trade union action.
