The Government has placed renewed emphasis on improving vocational education and strengthening quality training institutions in line with ongoing education reforms, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said yesterday (27).
She made these remarks while addressing the annual diploma presentation ceremony of the Department of Technical Education and Training held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).
Prime Minister Amarasuriya said vocational education plays a vital role in producing skilled professionals required for the country’s labour market and assured that maximum attention would be given to enhancing training standards and institutional quality under future reforms.
Diploma certificates were awarded at the ceremony to students who completed National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 5 and Level 6 programmes through technical colleges across the island for the years 2023 and 2024.
