Police have arrested five suspects and seized another vessel at Mirissa Fisheries Harbour for allegedly supplying narcotics to fishing boats intercepted off Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

The Police Narcotics Bureau said the vessel, Dileesha 03, is suspected of supplying drugs to boats previously seized with over 290 kg of heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

Authorities added that the fishing vessels and suspects initially detained by the Sri Lanka Navy were brought to Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour for further investigation.

The Police Narcotics Bureau said that 11 suspects linked to the main seizure were produced in court, where a seven-day detention order was granted to continue investigations.
