Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in the Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts, according to the latest weather forecast. Several spells of showers are also expected in the North-Western Province.
Showers or thundershowers may develop at several places in other parts of the island after 2.00 p.m., while misty conditions are likely during the early morning hours in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers are expected at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Mannar, Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee. Showers or thundershowers may also occur in other sea areas around the island during the evening or night.
Winds will be easterly to north-easterly at speeds of 25–35 kmph, while the sea will be slight to moderate. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough sea conditions can be expected during thundershowers.
