Senior Advocate G.K.A. Chaminda Kumara Kularatne, the Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff of Parliament, has been suspended from his duties with effect from yesterday (23).

Parliamentary sources said the decision was taken in view of a problematic situation that has arisen in connection with his appointment.

Mr. Kularatne assumed duties as Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff of Parliament on September 15, 2023.

He is an alumnus of Rajasinghe Central College, Ruwanwella, and a law graduate of the Open University of Sri Lanka. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Colombo and the University of Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom.

A Life Member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka since 2005, Mr. Kularatne has served as a Member of the Bar Association Council since 2016.

During a career spanning over two decades, Senior Advocate Kularatne has held several senior administrative and executive positions in government, including Chief Organizing Secretary of the Government Party in Parliament, Additional Secretary to the President, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, Additional Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition, Ministerial Advisor to the Sri Lankan High Commission in London, Senior Assistant Secretary to the President, and Assistant Secretary to the President, among others.
