The Wattala Magistrate's court today (23) ordered the further remand of five suspects, including former Minister Johnston Fernando, when the case against them was taken up.

Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered that the suspects be remanded until the 30th.

Former Minister Johnston Fernando, who previously served as the Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade, was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on the 5th and produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court in connection with a case filed over the alleged misuse of a lorry belonging to the Sathosa Company during his tenure as minister.

At the time of his initial production, the Wattala Magistrate’s Court ordered the remand of Johnston Fernando and the other suspects.
