Sri Lankan travellers have been urged to familiarise themselves with the conditions of entry to the United States when travelling on a B1/B2 visitor visa.

In a statement, the US Embassy in Colombo clarified that while the visa permits activities such as attending business meetings and negotiating contracts, it does not allow holders to undertake employment.

The Embassy warned that individuals found engaging in unauthorised work could face deportation and may be permanently barred from re-entering the United States.
