Frost conditions were reported across the western slopes of Sri Lanka’s central hills during the early hours of Tuesday, January 21, in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.
Residents in the Bhagwanthalawa area observed frost settling on grassy surfaces, creating unusually cold conditions for the western side of the mountain range. The phenomenon marked a sharp drop in temperatures following the cyclone’s passage.
Authorities have urged residents, particularly farmers in highland regions, to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as low temperatures are expected to persist over the coming days.
