The case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against former Minister Mervyn Silva was taken up before the Colombo High Court today (19).
The matter was heard before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal, during which evidence was recorded from four witnesses representing banks and financial institutions named in the complaint, on the direction of the Bribery Commission.
Further hearing of evidence has been postponed to March 16.
The Bribery Commission has instituted the case alleging that Silva committed an offence under the Anti-Corruption Act by unlawfully acquiring assets disproportionate to his lawful income while serving as a minister between 2010 and 2012.
