The construction of the Baladaksha Mawatha flyover, originally scheduled for completion in 2022, was delayed due to the economic crisis and other challenges.

Minister Ratnayake said that the project, initially estimated to cost Rs. 2,700 million, required an additional Rs. 1 billion due to delays. He credited coordination with the Police Department and RDA for expediting the project.

"The area surrounding this flyover, including the Presidential Secretariat and major business centers, has long been prone to traffic congestion. Completing this flyover is a significant convenience and benefit to the public," he said.
