ENGLAND’S cricket team have been put under a strict midnight curfew for the remainder of the winter tour.
The restrictions come after a series of disciplinary problems during the Ashes and the New Zealand series.
According to the Daily Mail, players will receive reminders about their obligations as representative of English cricket upon landing in Sri Lanka.
It’s not believed that any behavioural guidelines will be formally issued.
England take on Sri Lanka later this month in white-ball fixtures ahead of February’s Twenty20 World Cup.
Players will have to return to their team accommodation before midnight every evening while away, unless they have made exceptions with management.
Numerous alcohol-related incidents hung over England’s shocking performances against New Zealand an Australia in recent weeks.
Reports claimed that England’s mid-Ashes break at Noosa had a “stag-do” like atmosphere.
Opening batsman Ben Duckett was filmed appearing heavily intoxicated and struggling to get back to his hotel room.
In the clip, Duckett, was seen talking to fans who ask: “Do you know how to get home?”
England director of cricket Rob Key admitted some behaviour on the Noosa tour had fallen below expectations.
He told the BBC: “Headlines can be misleading at times, saying it’s a stag do and stuff like that.
“Stories of players drinking six days solid – that’s unacceptable.
“We’ll be looking into seeing what the facts are as opposed to the things that have been embellished or elaborated on.”
