Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Namal Karunaratne, emphasized the need for a scientific and technological approach to agriculture to ensure long-term sustainability.
Addressing the FarmerNet.lk launch, he said accurate data on crop cultivation, farmer numbers and water requirements is essential for effective land and resource management. With limited land availability, the focus should be on increasing yields through efficient use of technology.
He added that agricultural modernization must benefit both farmers and consumers.
