More than one and a half months after Cyclone Ditwah struck Sri Lanka, a residential area in Wanathavilluwa remains submerged under floodwater.
The affected area is Sinnanagavilluwa village, located in the Wanathavilluwa Divisional Secretariat Division. The village was flooded following heavy rains and strong winds caused by the cyclone.
Although over 45 days have passed since the disaster, 22 houses in the village are still completely underwater, leaving residents unable to return to their homes.
Officials from the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) have visited the area to assess the situation and monitor the condition of the affected families.
Residents say that the government has been continuously providing relief assistance, including essential supplies, since the day of the disaster. They expressed appreciation for the ongoing support received during this difficult period.
Authorities are continuing efforts to address the situation and provide necessary aid until the floodwaters recede and normal living conditions are restored.
