President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be on an official visit to the Jaffna and Mannar areas today (15) and tomorrow (16). In the afternoon, the President is scheduled to participate in the Northern Province Thai Pongal festival at the Velanai Ayyanar Kovil playground in Jaffna.
Additionally, he will attend another Thai Pongal event organized by the Jaffna Tourism Board at the Manipai Maruthadi Vinayagar Kovil.
As part of the “Own a Home – Beautiful Life” initiative, the President will also preside over the inaugural ceremony for the construction of 31,218 new houses across the country. This event will be held tomorrow morning at the Jaffna Chavakachcheri Weerasingham Primary School playground. Under this program, 2,500 families in the Northern and Eastern provinces who lost their homes due to the war will receive new housing.
Furthermore, the President will lead the Northern Province program of the nationwide anti-drug campaign tomorrow afternoon at the Jaffna Technical College playground.
