Weligama Police said that a lawyer and four other individuals were arrested at a hotel in Mirissa on charges of possessing cocaine.
According to police, the suspect lawyer is a resident of Kurunegala and practices at the Aluthkade Courts Complex in Colombo. He had reportedly traveled to Mirissa with four friends on holiday and was staying at a hotel in the area.
Acting on information received, a team of police officers conducted a search at the hotel, during which 860 milligrams of cocaine were allegedly found in the possession of the lawyer, police said.
Following the discovery, all five individuals were taken into custody for possession of narcotics. The suspects are due to be produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court today (11).
