The government of Sri Lanka is closely monitoring global fuel markets following U.S. strikes on Venezuela on Saturday, which are expected to impact world oil prices and potentially cause fluctuations in local fuel rates, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today

He emphasized that the government is currently unable to predict the exact changes to domestic fuel prices. “At present, certain goods and services are already experiencing price fluctuations,” Minister Jayatissa added.

The Finance Ministry, along with relevant ministers, will take necessary decisions based on the evolving situation in the international fuel market, he noted.
