The Cabinet has granted approval for the procurement of food items, including raw and dried rations, for the three armed forces for the year 2026.
Bids were invited under the National Competitive Procurement Procedure, with a total of 5,274 bids submitted by 34 bidders for 1,219 procurement packages for the Sri Lanka Army, 454 packages for the Sri Lanka Navy, and 242 packages for the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Accordingly, the Cabinet approved the proposal submitted by the President, in his capacity as Minister of Defence, to award the procurements to the minimum substantially responsive bidders. The awards will be made following the recommendations of the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee and the Procurement Appeals Board.
