The Education Ministry has moved to immediately remove inappropriate references that were found in the Grade 6 English language module, following a review of the materials.

Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijith Herath confirmed the matter, stating that such content should not have been included in the module.

The Prime Minister, upon learning of the issue, appointed a fact-finding committee led by Education Minister Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa to conduct an internal investigation. The committee has submitted its report, and legal action is set to be taken against individuals responsible for the incident.

Minister Herath emphasized that the swift action demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring educational materials meet appropriate standards and that accountability will be enforced in all such matters.
