Sri Lanka cricket team head coach Sanath Jayasuriya said that he will step down from his position following the conclusion of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
Speaking on the matter, Jayasuriya said he has no intention of continuing as head coach, despite his current contract still being in effect.
Jayasuriya was first appointed as Sri Lanka’s head coach on a temporary basis during the tour against India in July 2024. He was later confirmed in the role on a full-time basis towards the end of the same year.
During his tenure, Sri Lanka played a total of 60 international matches across all formats under Jayasuriya’s guidance. Of those, the team recorded 29 wins and 29 losses, while two matches ended in draws.
