Sri Lanka has recorded a historic milestone in its export sector, with foreign exchange earnings from coconut and coconut-based products surpassing US$ 1 billion for the first time.
According to the Export Development Board (EDB), revenue from coconut exports reached US$ 1,033.9 million during the period from January to October 2025, reflecting a significant growth of 43.83 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.
Coconut-based products now account for 7.2 per cent of Sri Lanka’s total export earnings, highlighting the sector’s growing contribution to the national economy. Officials attributed the achievement to strong global demand and improved export strategies.
