Transport Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena said that steps will be taken to grant a bonus to employees of Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots, with cabinet approval to be sought for the proposal.
The Deputy Minister made the statement during an inspection tour of the SLTB depot in Nawalapitiya on Tuesday afternoon (31), which he undertook together with Kandy District Member of Parliament Thushari Jayasinghe.
During the visit, SLTB employees informed the Deputy Minister that they had not yet received the bonus previously promised by the government. Responding to their concerns, Gunasena said necessary measures would be taken to ensure the issue is addressed through proper cabinet procedures.
The Deputy Minister also said that steps would be taken to rectify existing shortcomings at the Nawalapitiya SLTB depot. He added that once these issues are resolved, employees should work with greater dedication to improve the depot’s performance and increase its income.
MP Thushari Jayasinghe was also present during the inspection tour.
