An investigation has been launched after an inappropriate term was found in the introduction of a Grade 6 English module, Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa said.
Officials said a complaint was received alleging that the introduction of the already printed Grade 6 English module contained a reference to an inappropriate website. An internal review was carried out and confirmed the accuracy of the complaint.
Following the findings, the Education Ministry has immediately suspended the distribution of the module and initiated a formal investigation.
Authorities are also expected to file a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) tomorrow to enable further inquiries into the matter.
