Sri Lanka Customs has achieved a record revenue of Rs. 2,497 billion in 2025, exceeding the revised annual target, according to Customs Media Spokesperson and Director Chandana Punchihewa.
The Ministry of Finance had initially set a revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion for the year. However, collections surpassed this figure by November, leading to a revision of the target to Rs. 2,231 billion. Sri Lanka Customs has now exceeded even this revised target.
Director Punchihewa attributed the strong revenue performance to a combination of internal operational measures introduced by Customs and the resumption of vehicle imports, which significantly boosted collections. Vehicle imports, in particular, played a major role in pushing revenues beyond expectations.
In comparison, last year’s revenue target was Rs. 1,531 billion. The substantially higher target for 2025 reflected both the reintroduction of vehicle imports and improved performance expectations from Customs.
Officials noted that continued operational improvements and effective revenue-enhancing measures were key contributors to this record-breaking achievement.
