The government’s annual revenue target of Rs. 2,203 billion for the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) for 2025 has been successfully achieved as of December 19, the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, Rukdevi Fernando, confirmed.

This marks the highest tax revenue ever recorded in the history of the IRD. Commissioner General Fernando stated that efforts will continue to further increase tax revenue in the coming days.

The government and the IRD extended their gratitude to taxpayers for their contributions through direct and indirect taxes, and also acknowledged the dedication of Inland Revenue staff, as well as employees of public and private institutions who supported this achievement.
