Train services on the Eastern Railway Line to Batticaloa will resume from tomorrow (24), the Department of Railways announced

 According to the department, passengers travelling from Colombo Fort to Batticaloa should take Train No. 7083, which departed Colombo Fort at 6.00 a.m. bound for Trincomalee. Passengers are required to transfer at the Gal Oya Railway Station and board Train No. 6011, departing at 12.40 p.m., to continue their journey to Batticaloa.

For the return journey, the train will depart Batticaloa at 5.00 a.m. and operate up to Gal Oya. Passengers can then transfer at Gal Oya to board the Trincomalee–Colombo Fort service, the Department of Railways added.

The resumption of services is expected to ease travel for passengers commuting to and from the Eastern Province.
