Sri Lanka Customs officers attached to the Central Mail Exchange seized 6.201 kilograms of the narcotic drug “Kush,” with an estimated street value of over Rs. 60 million, during an inspection of foreign parcels at the EMS Division today (23).
Customs officials said the contraband, valued at approximately Rs. 60.21 million, was found concealed in a parcel sent from Thailand to Sri Lanka. The detection was made during routine customs checks.
A 31-year-old resident of the Dematagoda area has been identified as the suspect in connection with the attempted smuggling.
Sri Lanka Customs said further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the smuggling operation.
