The government has paid the Rs. 25,000 house-cleaning allowance to around 30,000 families affected by recent disasters in the Kandy District, District Secretary Indika Udawattha said.

He explained that the payments are being distributed through Grama Niladhari officers in coordination with the Divisional and Provincial Secretariats. The allowance is intended to support families in cleaning and restoring houses damaged by the disaster.

The District Secretary added that steps are also being taken to provide livelihood assistance ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 for affected families. In addition, arrangements have been made to grant Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 to households with severely damaged kitchens to help purchase essential kitchen appliances.
