The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence has instructed the establishment of a special “Operations Center” at Army Headquarters to ensure public safety, security, and a peaceful atmosphere during the upcoming festive season.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence, the Operations Center will function continuously until the conclusion of the festive period and will serve as the main coordination hub to ensure close cooperation between the Tri-Forces and the Sri Lanka Police.
The primary objective of this joint coordination mechanism is to guarantee a swift, systematic, and effective response to any potential security challenges or emergency situations that may arise during the festive season.
The Ministry further noted that the initiative is aimed at strengthening real-time information sharing, enabling timely decision-making, and enhancing operational preparedness across all security forces.
Through this mechanism, authorities are expected to be better equipped to safeguard public lives throughout the festive period, while also ensuring the protection of both state and private property, the Defence Ministry emphasized.
