Showers are expected at several locations in the sea areas off the coast from Batticaloa to Galle via Hambantota, the Met Department said.
Winds over the surrounding sea areas will be north-easterly, with speeds ranging between 30–40 kmph, increasing at times up to 50–55 kmph. Stronger winds are likely in the sea areas off the coast extending from Balapitiya to Mannar via Colombo and Puttalam, as well as from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea will be rough at times in the coastal waters from Balapitiya to Mannar via Colombo and Puttalam, and from Matara to Batticaloa via Hambantota. Elsewhere around the island, sea conditions are expected to be moderate.
Naval and fishing communities are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions due to the rough sea conditions.
